There are two types of Jailbreak Tethered/Semi-tethered and Semi-Untethered/Untethered

If your iPhone turns off at some point, when you restart it, all the jailbreak tweaks installed will be disabled. After that, you have to connect the iPhone to the PC or open the relevant jailbreak app on the iPhone (Ex: Pangu) and enable the jailbreak again.
A semi-untethered jailbreak app can be side-loaded over a physical cable connection from a computer via the Cydia Impactor program. This is what a common user should choose if they are jailbreaking. Because there will be no problem in this system like the previous system. Even if the phone is off, you can turn it on as usual and use the iPhone without any problem. A disadvantage is that after an iOS version is released, takes time to be released.
